Dr Tony Juniper CBE is Chair of Natural England, the Government's official conservation agency, and a Fellow of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Tony has also advised many global businesses on developing and implementing effective environmental strategies.
One of the UK's leading environmental figures, Tony has been active in the defence of nature for more than 40 years. He has led major organisations, run global campaigns, written numerous books, and advised at the highest levels of Government and business.
He began his career as an ornithologist before joining Friends of the Earth, where he led the tropical rainforest campaign and later served as Executive Director. He subsequently worked as an environmental adviser to HRH The Prince of Wales (now His Majesty King Charles III), served as President of the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, and held the role of Executive Director at WWF-UK.
His books include the multi-award-winning What Has Nature Ever Done for Us?, Harmony (co-authored with the then Prince of Wales), and, most recently, Just Earth. A frequent contributor to television and radio, Tony is a prolific speaker on environmental and sustainability issues.
Tony has received numerous awards and widespread recognition for his contributions to conservation and was appointed Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2017 for services to the environment.
