Resilient Landscapes and Seas Symposium 2026: Travel and Accommodation

Find out how to travel to Edinburgh and see recommendations for where to stay during the Resilient Landscapes and Seas Symposium 2026.

All travel and accommodation plans are to be made by delegates independently. We have provided some information below to make planning easier. Edinburgh is an extremely popular destination city and as a result hotels fill up quickly. We highly recommend you secure your accommodation and make your travel plans as early as possible.

Travelling to Edinburgh

If you are travelling within England, Scotland and Wales, we recommend taking the train to and from Edinburgh, then connecting to the venue by bus. Trains run from all major UK stations to Edinburgh regularly throughout the day. It is worth noting that travelling alone via car over long distances can emit more carbon than flying. If you plan to travel via car, please consider carpooling with other delegates you know.

We recommend you use either Google/Apple maps For information on travelling to the venue, see Venue and Accessibility

By Rail

Edinburgh Waverley [Princes Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1BB] is the main station in Edinburgh and is 1.2 miles from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Haymarket Station [Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 5EY] is 2.5 miles from the Royal Botanic Garden. Both stations have train routes across the UK.

See National Rail, Train Hugger or Train Line to plan your journey.

By Bus

Most buses arrive at the Edinburgh Bus Station which is on St Andrew Square in the city centre, 1.2 miles from the venue. See Traveline Scotland to plan your journey. See Lothian buses for local routes. National Express and MegaBus offer services to Edinburgh from Birmingham, London, and Manchester. You can download Citymapper to help you plan bus journeys around the city.

By Car

To plan a trip by car, the AA Route planner and the RAC Route planner will be useful.

Please note, there are a limited number of parking spaces on some of the roads surrounding the Royal Botanic Garden. See Venue and Accessibility for more information. More information can be found here: Parking spaces – The City of Edinburgh Council

By Air

Edinburgh Airport is approx. 8 miles from the venue, with bus and tram connections, via the city centre.
