BIFoR-FACE hosted a knowledge exchange event in June between students and researchers. Kris Hart (University of Birmingham) provides a summary of the event.
To mark COP30, BIFoR-FACE have launched Future Forests; a series of curriculum-linked lessons to ensure Key Stage 3- Key Stage 5 have a meaningful voice in supporting an exciting climate-friendly future take root and grow. To showcase outputs from the experiment, the BIFoR-FACE team invited A-Level students onto the Edgbaston campus to take part in a knowledge exchange event that took place on 26th June.
The event was attended by 44 A-level students from three schools within Birmingham and Warwickshire. It was delivered with support from 30 sustainability micro-interns, who are all current students from across the University (not just the sciences). Throughout the day they attended engaging talks and panel discussions, and presented findings in the form of scientific posters. Outputs from the day fed into an interactive policy workshop and a careers workshop.

The BIFoR team received great feedback from the students and teachers afterwards who really appreciated this insight into how academic progress is communicated alongside the development of research policy and practice.
