Many organisations are addressing the loss of biodiversity and tackling the climate crises while also trying to meet the needs of the people through ambitious large-scale projects. They interact with a wide range of government policies. However, these large-scale projects are often unconnected and so cannot benefit from mutual support, common methodologies or shared learning.
The Partnership for Resilient Landscapes and Seas (RLAS) proposes to provide this connectivity and support.
About the Partnership
Vision To enable the creation of large-scale land, freshwater, coastal and marine systems which deliver a more sustainable and resilient future for nature, people and climate.
Purpose To build a more cohesive community around landscape-scale transformation. The Partnership for Resilient Landscapes and Seas exists to provide the ‘connective tissue’ between projects, enabling sharing of knowledge and mutual support. The partnership focuses on projects that are at least 500ha in scale and are designed to deliver multiple outcomes.
Objectives
· Better sharing of best practice, especially in relation to the understanding of trade-offs and synergies between multiple outcomes
· More effective monitoring and evaluation, with standardisation where desired
· More extensive and accessible evidence of outcomes
· Better support for the development of new projects
